Pyrenees Endurance Trail

Distance: 22km

Walk Description

The Pyrenees Walking Trail is also known as the Pyrenees Endurance Walk.  A long, strenuous walk through a pleasant variety of timbered forests, traversing the Pyrenees Range from west to east. The Pyrenees is also home to one of Victoria’s premier wine regions. A visit to a local winery will be in order after our hike.

We will hike approximately 11 kilometres on the Saturday. You will need to ensure you have plenty of water, as it will be summer and the hike is supposedly quite tough.

We aim to arrive at Cameron’s Track Campground around 6 pm. We then set up our tents, and have dinner and a cold beer. The camping ground is very pleasant. There is a nice grassy hill for setting up tents, a sheltered area for cooking and eating as well as good toilet facilities (take your own toilet paper as it does tend to run out!).

The next day will commence early; my preference is a dawn hike with a 6 am start. No real reason for this other than that a dawn hike is fun, and the refreshing cool will be pleasant to hike in.

Again, another 11 ks or so, and we should be finished around 5 hours after we start.

Please bring your lunch on Saturday, one dinner and one breakfast. Snacks should be enough to tide you over for Sunday as we expect to finish early afternoon. As this is a base camp, you can bring what you like for food!

You’ll also need to carry water – around four litres. There is a water tank at our camp site for the Saturday night, but I am unclear if water will be available. Regardless, we can leave as much water as we like in the car. For more details of what to bring, please refer to our Gear Checklist page.

Booking is  required for this walk.  The Leader will confirm your acceptance onto the walk via an email.  A few days before the walk, the leader will organise car-pooling and provide details of where and when to meet.

Booking Fee:

Passengers must pay the driver their share of car-pooling costs as described on the Car-pooling page. Please bring cash for this purpose.
