Walk Description

Featuring the best bits of the southern section of the Dandenongs, this walk starts at Upper Ferntree Gully Station and ends at Belgrave.  Lunch will be a picnic in the park and coffee stop in Sassafrass.

We start by heading up the 1000 steps to One Tree Hill.  After crossing the Mountain Highway we travel along Ferndale Rd, with some nice views out over the suburbs, before heading uphill again to Sassafrass.

After lunch we’ll make our way through the Alfred Nicholas Gardens  and Sherbrooke Forest through to Belgrave.

After a solid 18km of uphill (900m climbing) and downhill (800m descending) walking you will have earned that piece of cake before catching the train back to Upper Ferntree Gully.
