Aust Day Weekend: Walhalla Accommodated Trip
Closed
Trip Overview
Once one of Australia’s richest towns and home to over 4000 gold seekers, this sleepy mountainside town is now frozen in time and is home to only 20 residents. Visitors can walk through the lovingly restored centre full of heritage buildings and explore the old hotels, shops, school and churches built in the 19th century when the town was at its peak.
Based in Rawson, this trip includes four days of day walks in the area around Walhalla, Mt Erica and Rawson.
To obtain the full trip flyer, please contact the leader using the Enquiry button, below.
Accommodation
We have booked accommodation at Mountain Rivers Lodge, Rawson (15 mins drive from Walhalla).
The lodge has a very good kitchen and common area. There are 6 bedrooms – each room has queen bed + bunk bed + ensuite.
This means we are fitting three people per room. We aim to have single gender in each room (we will only have mixed gender in a room if everyone in the room agrees to this). The cost per person is $160.
Couples: Any couples wanting a private room would have to pay the extra $160 to cover our loss of booking, making a total cost of $480.
Once the accommodation booked by the club is filled, we may offer additional places on the trip to those who wish to book their own accommodation.
Itinerary and Walk Descriptions
We aim to commence each day’s hikes at 8.00 am. This will give us plenty of time in the afternoons to enjoy the surrounds and a drink or two with friends, old and new.
We may offer the choice of two walks each day, but this will depend on the group size, group preferences and the availability of a second leader.

Passengers must pay the driver their share of car-pooling costs as described on the Car-pooling page. Please discuss the preferred method of payment with your driver. This includes travel to and from the walks each day.
