BUS TRIP: Point Nepean Walk

Walk Description

Distance: 18 km

Duration: 5-6 hours approx.

Point Nepean Walk is located in the Point Nepean National Park, at the southern tip of the Mornington Peninsula. The walk will go past the old Quarantine Station, World War Two military defences and it will follow coastal and bush tracks.  Point Nepean offers some of the best views of the Mornington Peninsula and Port Phillip Bay Heads.

At the end of the walk through the Point Nepean National park, we will continue walking to Sorrento, making a total of 18 kms walk distance for the day.

This is a BUS TRIP.

Meeting Point: Exact Location TBA  (It will be in Melbourne City, close to one of the train stations)

Meeting Time: 8.00 am

Drop off : between 5 – 6 pm

Drop off location:  Pickup point  / Meeting location

Please note that your day pack only is allowed on the bus ( 1 pack per person)

Cost:

Members : $35

Non Members: $45

 

Transport

Make your own way to the meeting point (TBA) by car or public transport (your choice). The remainder of the trip is by charter bus.

 

Booking

Booking is required for this walk. Please indicate what similar walks you have done recently (i.e. in the past few months) to give the leader confidence that you are capable of doing this one. Refer to Walking Grades which, in conjunction with the walk description, will help you assess whether you have the required walking fitness and experience to do this walk.

The Leader will confirm your acceptance on the walk, or not, via email.  The leader will provide details of where and when to meet.

Booking Fee:
Members: $35     Non-members: $45

Payment:
Members and non-members are required to pre-pay their booking fee.
Payment by Paypal or card is the quickest method, but if you choose to pay by EFT please follow the instruction to email the Treasurer with your payment details.

Cancellation:
If you need to cancel, please advise the leader as soon as possible, so that someone else has the opportunity.
We can only provide a refund if we can find a replacement, so please do not book unless you are fully committed to walking.

 

What to bring

• Day pack
• Sufficient water (2 litres, more on hot summer days)
• Lunch and snacks
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing (no jeans/sneakers!)
• Rainwear & warm jacket
• Proper walking shoes/boots
• Hand Sanitiser
• Face Mask if required

  • You should not be attending this event if you are Covid-19 positive and/or are required to be in quarantine or isolation.

Safety and Ambulance Insurance

We strongly recommend that you have Ambulance cover. If conditions are hazardous, the walk may be cancelled. If any doubts at all, check your emails the night before and the morning of the event. For more details refer to Joining a walk and your safety
