What’s the best food for bushwalking? Guest speaker – Virtual Clubnight 7 July, 2020

When preparing for hikes do you ever have any questions like:

  • What food should you take when you go out on a multi day adventure?
  • What are your nutritional needs when subjecting yourself to intense outdoor activity?
  • How do you cook gourmet food at your campsite?
  • What about dehydrated or Freeze dried food or how hard is it to make my own food that is quick and easy to prepare then cook at camp?
  • Does your Camp food look as good as this?

Our guest speaker is Sonya Muhlsimmer, author of the cookbook for adventurers, “Xtreme Gourmet: High Energy, Lightweight Recipes for the Outdoor Enthusiasts” and a regular writer in the Wildwalks ‘Bushwalks Australia’ Emag.  So very well qualified to answer your questions.

Her two favourite things are spending as much time outdoors as possible and food. From a very early age her father took her out skiing (literally as soon as she could walk), camping, caving, and bushwalking. Hence, spending a lot of time in the wilderness. Now living in the Blue Mountains she goes canyoning, bushwalking and a bit of rock climbing as much as she can, in winter each year she spends over a week backcountry skiing in Kosciuszko National Park. She loves multi day hiking too, basically the longer out in the bush the better it is. She has a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and is a qualified chef. She has been working in the food industry for over 25 years.

Pantoneys Crown. Capertee Valley, in the Gardens of Stone. Near the Blue Mountains.

The presentation will commence at 7.30pm; we will be testing technology and chatting from 7pm.
