May Club Night: Tassie Double Feature

Upcoming

Wineglass Bay from Mount Amos

.

Last August, club members Dale and Phillipa presented a movie of their trek to Everest Base Camp and it was clear to those who attended that many hours of effort went into producing their video showing stunning scenery and a vision of life in the mountain villages of Nepal.

In our May club night, Dale and Phillipa will present movies of two of their hikes in the Apple Isle:

Freycinet National Park 3 Night Hike (25 minutes)

Jutting out into the sea on Tasmania’s east coast is the rugged and beautiful Freycinet Peninsula. Freycinet National Park, which consists of The Hazards granite mountains all but surrounded by azure bays and white sand beaches, protects a superb array of plants and animals. The park is best known for the stunning beauty of Wineglass Bay – its crystal-clear waters and curvaceous white beach is one of Tasmania’s most celebrated views.

We will have a short intermission before the second movie:

Walls of Jerusalem National Park 2 Night Hike (23 minutes)

Located in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, the Walls of Jerusalem is a wild and inspiring alpine park with a labyrinth of highland lakes, craggy mountains and elegant stands of pure pencil pine forests. Its stunning landscape of precipitous dolerite peaks, moraines and tarns are the result of glaciation.

This movie includes a trip on water around the Tasman National Park.
