Clubnight: Hiking the Salkantay Trail and Red Valley in Peru

For our July club night, we will hear from well-known club member Angelica, about another of her adventures! This time, it’s her trip to Peru in September 2025 when she hiked the Salkantay Trail and Red Valley.

The Salkantay Trail is one of the lesser known hikes than the famous Inca Trail but equally busy and more challenging. Angelica will take you on a journey of her four day hike to a top altitude of 4600 metres, plus her 8km hike through the Red Valley: an area south of Cusco which is not widely promoted in comparison to Rainbow Mountain.

Venue

East Melbourne Library Meeting Room, 122 George St, East Melbourne.

Public Transport: 8 minutes walk from West Richmond train station or 4 minutes walk from Jolimont Station. Alternatively take #48 0r #75 tram.

Car Parking: Most of the car parking close to the library has a one-hour limit, however unrestricted street parking is available after 7pm on the Fitzroy Gardens side of Clarendon Street. There is also some two-hour street parking on Wellington Parade and around Darling Square, corner Simpson and Gipps Streets (6 minutes walk from the library).
Please check signage carefully.

Doors will open at 7pm for some refreshments prior to the presentation.

The presentation will start at 7.30pm sharp, so please ensure you arrive in plenty of time.
