Lonely Planet describes Cuba as “Timeworn but magnificent, dilapidated but dignified, fun yet maddeningly frustrating. Trapped in a time warp and reeling from an economic embargo that has grated for more than half a century, this is a country where you can wave goodbye to everyday assumptions and expect the unexpected.”

Our presenter, Andrew, has walked with our club for many years and is a seasoned world traveller. His fascination with travel started when he worked for Qantas and took advantage of their discount airfares to holiday in a variety of countries (53 at last count) and experience a range of different cultures. Tonight, he will talk about his experiences in Cuba and provide an insight into travel in this intriguing country.

The plan for the evening is:

WHARF HOTEL:
6pm to 7.15pm – DINNER and drinks. The Wharf Hotel is five minutes walk from the presentation venue and is located by the river at WTC Wharf – Riverside (World Trade Centre), 18 – 38 Siddeley Street, Docklands.

MISSION TO SEAFARERS VICTORIA, 717 Flinders St, Docklands:
7pm – Drinks and nibbles in the Celia Little Room. Drinks can be purchased from the ground floor bar.
7.30pm – Presentation in the Celia Little Room, covering:
1) Cuba.
2) A look at our new website, prior to its launch. Walkers will learn how to book into walks and Leaders to manage their walk bookings.
8.30-9pm – Drinks and nibbles, chat to committee members, leaders and other walkers.
