Grampian Peaks Trail South
Upcoming
Trip Overview
Join us for a spectacular weekend hike along the final leg of the Grampians Peaks Trail—in reverse. We’ll depart Melbourne on Friday and stay overnight in Dunkeld or nearby, ready for an early start on Saturday. The hike begins in Dunkeld on Saturday and finishes at Cassidy Gap Road on Sunday, walking through some of the most iconic landscapes in the Southern Grampians. On Day 1, we’ll climb Wurgarri (Mt Sturgeon) and cross Bainggug (The Piccaninny) before reaching the rocky summit of Mud-Dadjug (Mt Abrupt) and camping at Mud-Dadjug Hike-in Campground. The following day, we’ll continue over escarpments and Signal Peak, descending through rocky shrubland to our endpoint at Cassidy Gap Road. Expect panoramic views, open Red Gum woodlands, and well-marked trails through rugged terrain.
