Mt Buninyong & Goldfields Track (Ballarat)

Expired

Distance: 20km

Walk Description

Mt Buninyong is an extinct volcano and popular picnic spot near Ballarat.   This walk will start at Buninyong township, taking a 12km circuit route to the summit (300m ascent and descent), with good views traversing round its slope and from a lookout tower at the top.

Mt Buninyong is also the start of the Eureka track, one of the arms of the Goldfields track which extends north to Bendigo. After returning via the Eureka track to Buninyong, we’ll continue on a further 8km section along the Yarrowee River into Ballarat.    Public transport will be used to skip a relatively uninteresting section of the Eureka track where it runs alongside a main road, and also to avoid spending time on a car shuffle, so bring your Myki.
