Trip Overview
YHA Bushwalking is heading off to visit the beautiful Mt Stirling for a beginners snow camping weekend for the 31st of August and the 1st of September. This is a great opportunity for those who would like to experience snow camping for the first time with the comfort of an alpine hut close by.
An easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne and 30 minutes from neighbouring Mount Buller, Mount Stirling is criss-crossed with more than 68 kilometres of maintained trails that wind through sheltered woodlands of Alpine Ash and Snow Gums. You will also need a gas or liquid fuel stove for cooking. A full list of gear needed is available from the leader.
Food: High energy food and snacks for two days: 2 x Lunch, 1 x Dinner & 1 x Breakfast.
Additional Costs: Alpine resort entry for two days plus overnight parking $128 per vehicle divided between occupants.
