What to Bring

• Backpack
• Tent and sleeping gear
• First aid kit
• Sufficient water – water can be scarce on this walk, you will need to be able to carry enough personal water for 1-2 days if needed – we can’t stress this fact enough, it’s very common for walkers to be under prepared for this and require rescuing from the area. You will need to be able to carry 5L of water at a minimum.
• Water filtration
• Food for 4 days – You will need to bring 3 Dinners, 3 lunches (if you buy lunch day one), and 3 Breakfasts in your pack for the 4 day walk itinerary. An emergency meal is always recommended on multi day walks.
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing
• Rainwear & warm jacket
• Proper walking shoes/boots

Refer to our Gear Checklist page for more details.   If you are not properly equipped, the walk leader can decide not to let you participate on this walk.

It is expected that anyone undertaking an overnight walk has at least the experience and equipment necessary to comfortably complete a “medium” graded day walk.   If you are new to overnight camping, please refer to our Gear Checklist page or discuss with the leader.   Some equipment (eg tents, stoves) can be borrowed or shared provided you advise the leader of this when booking.  For harder-graded walks, the leader has the right not to accept bookings from anyone they consider is not sufficiently fit or experienced to undertake it, so please provide as much relevant information as you can when booking.

This walk is rated grade 5, difficult – only experienced participants will be considered. This is not a beginner hike!
