Walk Description

Opportunity to develop your map and compass navigation skills off track in Mt Disappointment State Forest. The distance for the day will be less than ten kilometres, but it is in fairly rugged country, and will be mostly off track, and may include one or more short, steep climbs. It will also include a lot of stopping to discuss and practice navigation skills.

Maps: Victoria Topographical Map 1:25,000 ‘Reedy Creek’. Copies will be supplied for the day.

Booking is  required for this walk.   The Leader will confirm your acceptance on the walk, or not, via email.  The leader will organise car-pooling and provide details of where and when to meet.

What to bring:

You’ll need a compass, although please don’t go out and buy one without speaking with the Leader first, as he has a few spare compasses that can be used on the day.

This is essentially an off track exercise, so a strong pair of comfortable boots and gaiters are ideal.

• Day pack
• Sufficient water (2 litres, more on hot summer days)
• Lunch and snacks
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing (no jeans/sneakers!)
• Rainwear & warm jacket

Booking Fee:

Please pay the leader CASH at the start of the walk, NO credit cards.

Passengers must pay the driver their share of car-pooling costs as described on the Car-pooling page. Please bring cash for this purpose.
