Lerderderg Gorge: Old River

Expired

Distance: 17km

Walk Description

A remote gorge walk along the Lerderderg River, descending into one of the remotest and least visited sections of Lerderderg Gorge

The walk will be along  dirt tracks and foot pads in very steep and rocky terrain.  It is NOT recommended for anyone with balance and/ or vertigo problems or uncomfortable with rock scrambling and rock-hopping along the riverbed.  Please  note  that river crossings and anticipated routes  are dependent  on the weather, as flooding can occur and  rocks/tracks may become slippery.

Booking is  required for this walk, the deadline is 8pm on the preceding Wednesday.   The leader will organise car-pooling and provide details of where and when to meet.

If you are not a member of YHA Bushwalking, the cost is $7 plus any share of car-pooling as described on the Joining a Walk page.   The fee can be paid to the leader at the start of the walk.

What to bring:

• Day pack
• Sufficient water (min 2 litres, there isn’t any available on the walk)
• Lunch and snacks
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing (no jeans/sneakers!)
• Rainwear & warm jacket
• Proper walking shoes/boots
