Macedon Ranges Walking Trail Circuit
Expired
Distance: 17km
Walk Description
Please join me on a mid-winter Mt Macedon circuit walk.
We will be setting off from the Mt Macedon Village at about 9am.
I’ll be parked along side the large pine trees on Mt Macedon road, a little up from the Mt Macedon Hotel. Approximately 702 Mt Macedon Rd.The GPS coordinates for car parking are approximately here. (Note the area has changed from street view and has marked parking)
I have a silver Subaru Forester, Registration – XAC-030
From here we visit some of the Mt Macedon areas of interest, including;
Mt Macedon memorial cross – with it’s city vista views
various lookouts along the way
camels hump – Highest point in the area
Sanatorium Lake – Sanatorium’s old water supply
Mt Towrong – beautiful views from the other side of the valley.
It’s about 17 Kays all up, mostly at reasonable altitude so please be prepared for cold weather walking.
It’s always colder up there than Melbourne so please ensure you consider this! If we are “lucky” we may even see snow!.
Please email me directly with any questions or if you need more information about the difficulty of this walk.
I would rate it a 3.5 – Medium-hard walk, with time of year and distance making it a degree of difficulty higher than normal walks. There is a small amount of rock scrambling (on track).
This walk will not be advertised on Meetup, it’s YHA website only.
Car pooling can be initiated by emailing me; Name, Suburb, Driver or Rider?, if Driver – how many people are you willing to take? You may wish to provide me with an intended route at that stage if you feel it may help. I will then connect drivers with riders via email and arranging the carpooling will be arranged exclusively by the drivers from this point.
Please click here for Car-pooling information including what you should tip your uber driver!
