Annual Cake Walk – Mt Hickey

Expired

Distance: 20km

Bookings are not required for this walk, just turn up at:   8:45am   Flagstaff station forecourt (corner William and Latrobe Sts, CBD).

The leader will organise car-pooling and provide directions to the location of the walk.  Drivers are really appreciated to help car-pool walkers between the meeting point and the walk location. There is free all-day parking nearby if your vehicle isn’t needed for transport, but please check parking signs.

The drive from the meeting point to the starting point of the walk will take about 90 minutes and is 100 km return.

The walk will take around 8 hours including breaks.

Expect to return to the meeting point around 7.30pm.

As this is a long walk, you will not be allowed to participate unless you bring at least two litres of water.

Walk Description

Finish your walking year with the 11th annual YHA Sunday cakewalk. Remember, the cakewalk does not take its name from the walk itself being a ‘piece of cake’ – it takes its name from the pieces of cake that you will consume on this walk. So, here’s a reminder of the premise – everyone is expected to bring a cake to be shared and enjoyed by the group on the walk.

The club will supply plates, forks, napkins and your appetite – you just have to bring yourself and your cake.

Gateaux, cheese, chocolate, fairy, sponge, carrot, wedding, home-made, shop bought – we don’t care what you bring as long as it’s cake !

If you want to bring a home made cake, then Hannah will be hosting a cake baking session and dinner, on  the evening before the walk.

Saturday 6pm – 9pm, 21/12/2019 at a location on Coburg. Please press the enquiry button if you would like further details of the cake baking session

You may also like to bring stoves/mugs if you fancy brewing up a cuppa to go with your cake after the walk.

As usual,  the cakewalk is an area not regularly visited by the club.

The walk takes in the Mt Hickey summit, some rocky outcrops and excellent views.
