Walk Description

The walk will start in the township of Taradale in Central Victoria and go along well marked undulating four-wheel drive tracks through the scenic Fryers Ridge Nature Conservation Reserve.

The reserve and nearby pockets of land are part of the 17% of remaining box ironbark forests that once stretched in a broad band across north central Victoria. Box ironbark forests and woodlands are dominated by red ironbark, yellow gum, red box and grey box trees with an understory of shrubs, annual plants and grasses. The area is known locally as being one of the best places to find wildflowers from September until December. The Reserve is also a popular spot for bird enthusiasts and you will most probably see kangaroos and wallabies.

We will have coffee at Taradale Wine & Produce Store, 120 High St, Taradale after the walk.
