Walk Description

A circuit walk that visits the front and back beaches between Sorrento and Portsea.
Route:  Starting in Sorrento we do the bayside beaches first to Portsea, checking out Millionaires Row & walking along Shelly Beach.  At Point Nepean NP we turn towards the ocean side of the peninsula , visiting London Bridge on the way to Portsea SLSC.  At this point we walk along the beach to Sorrento SLSC before climbing again to Coppins Lookout & returning to Sorrento.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• This walk has around 5-6km of beach walking on sand (2 shorter sections and 1 longer section)
• On the plus side we walk past a toilet block every hour or so
• The hills are more of the short and steep variety
• The walk is fairly exposed so be prepared for wind and direct sun. Bring your floppiest hat, and have some means of keeping it attached to your head.
• Depending on the tides, you might get wet feet up to knee deep in one small section.
• If you like to walk barefoot on the beach and at the waters edge (who doesn’t) bring a small towel to wipe you feet off.  Assume sand will get in your shoes regardless.
• Might also be worth bringing some hiking type sandals – not thongs (teva,  keen etc.) as there are a couple of 1-2km sections between beaches where it is almost not worth putting shoes and socks back on.  If the tide is low we might also have the opportunity to wander along the rock platforms near Sorrento SLSC

What to bring

• Day pack
• Sufficient water (2 litres, more on hot summer days)
• Lunch and snacks
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing (no jeans, quick drying in case you get wet, shorts or pants you can roll up)
• Rainwear & warm jacket
• Proper walking shoes/boots – runners are OK for this walk
• You might want to also bring some outdoor type sandles (not thongs, they must stay attached to your feet)
