Distance: 16km

Bookings are not required for this walk, just turn up at:   8:45am   at Ringwood Station carpark, opposite the RSL.

The leader will organise car-pooling and provide directions to the location of the walk.  Drivers are requested to assist with lifts for car-pool walkers between the meeting point and the walk location. There is free all-day parking nearby if your vehicle isn’t needed for transport.

It is a 15 km drive from the meeting point to the starting point of the walk (Range Road, Olinda) which should take approximately 30 minutes.

Expect to return to the meeting point around 4.30pm.

Walk Description

The walk is a circuit that will start and finish at a carpark on Range Road in Olinda, and cover approximately 16 km.  The trail follows Dandenong Creek Track and Kyeema Track on the western side of Mt Dandenong, which in places provides fine lookouts across the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.  On the eastern side of the range, the trail follows Mechanics Track and Mathias Road, and then continues through a former golf course and back to Olinda and Range Road. While the walk is rated as “Medium” there are some relatively steep slopes at some locations and therefore walkers should be prepared for strenuous sections.
