Dandenongs – Kalorama Circuit

Bookings are not required for this walk, just turn up at:   8:45am   Upper Ferntree Gully station (in front of the Visitor Centre).

The leader will organise car-pooling and provide directions to the location of the walk.  There is free all-day parking nearby if your vehicle isn’t needed for transport.

If you are not a member of YHA Bushwalking, the cost is $7 plus any share of car-pooling as described on the Joining a Walk page.

Walk Description

This walk starts and finishes in Kalorama in the Dandenong Ranges, taking in the trails of Mount Evelyn.  Starting with some short steep ascents and descents through the mountain ash, it continues along an undulating track to Silvan Reservoir where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we continue among the ferns before making a steep ascent up Mount Evelyn, follow some mountain trails before returning to Kalorama.

• Day pack
• Sufficient water (2 litres, more on hot summer days)
• Lunch and snacks
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing (no jeans/sneakers!)
• Rainwear & warm jacket
• Proper walking shoes/boots
