Opened in November 2021, the 165 km long Grampians Peaks Trail has been several years in the making, connecting various other walks in the Grampians/Gariwerd National Park to make one complete end-to-end one-way hike.

By definition a hilly walk, the views are magnificent – from rocky outcrops and  spectacular gorges to ferny gullies and escarpments-as you would expect in this magnificent part of our state .

A fee-paying trail-controversial to some–it comprises campsites with excellent facilities, most with very smart shelters, tank water and non-smelly toilets, all of which help make for a very pleasant hiking experience.

Tonight’s talk is by Elizabeth Jarman, who has been an active member of the YHA Bushwalking Club for some years and has enjoyed participating in many day walks, accommodated trips, and pack carries.

Most recent was the Thredbo and Brisbane trips with YHA group, and the Grampians Peaks solo. Previously she has completed the Great South West Walk, the Overland, sections of the Heysen Trail, and several overseas hikes.

She still has her heart set on the Larapinta Trail, having missed out in 2021…
