Walking Since 1939

Who you gonna call? Bush search and rescuers of course – Guest speaker – Virtual Clubnight 4 August, 2020

Have you ever wondered what happens if it all goes wrong – snakebite, broken leg etc?

Our guest speaker is Peter Campbell who is on the project team that has been developing the Bushwalking Manual for Bushwalking Victoria and has 33 years of experience rescuing bushwalkers.

Peter’s preferred outdoor activities range from ski mountaineering and photography through to cycling and kite surfing.  As with all of Peter’s interests, each is approached with passion and energy.

Peter’s particular interest in ski mountaineering saw him take on  organising of the BSAR steep snow and ice training weekends since 1995.  During this time he has reviewed and developed our processes around alpine search and rescue training, clarifying the level of specialist skill and experience that members require for these searches.

Peter has attended 22 searches since 1983.

The presentation will commence at 7.30pm; we will be testing technology and chatting from 7pm.

Anyone is welcome to attend, however as this is a virtual club night, please register so we can send you the zoom meeting invite. The Leader will confirm your participation  via email.
