Portarlington to St Leonards with dinner in Geelong

Closed

Walk Description

Distance: 20km

Enjoy views of Port Phillip bay with dinner afterwards in Geelong! Here’s the plan:

. We travel to Portarlington by passenger ferry, departing from Docklands mid-morning.

. Once we disembark at Portarlington, we will walk the coastal trail to St. Leonards.

. From St Leonards, we will visit Edwards’s Point Nature Conservation Reserve, the last remaining stand of coastal woodland on the Bellarine Peninsula.

. From St Leonards, we will travel by the regional bus service to Geelong.

. Indulge in dinner and drinks at Geelong (venue to be advised).

. Return to Melbourne by train to Southern Cross station. Expect to arrive around 9 or 10pm, depending on which train we catch.

Do join this walk, you must:

. Book in via our website (see below).

. Once you have been accepted for this walk, you need to book and pay for your ticket via the Port Phillip Ferries website (the fare is $21). If you need to cancel for any reason, they only provide a credit, not a refund, so you may not want to book too early. It’s unsure whether the ferry will book out, but if you book Thursday or Friday that should be OK – of course that will depend on the demand at the time.

. Bring your MYKI with you to ensure you can pay for the bus to Geelong ($3.80) and train to Southern Cross ($10.60).

. Be prepared to walk at a pretty fast pace (average at least 4 kms an hour) to ensure we complete the walk as planned prior to boarding the bus to Geelong.

Transport

Make your own way to the walk location by car or public transport (your choice).
