Distance: 18km     Bookings are not required for this walk, just turn up at:   8:45am   Flinders Street Railway Station under the clocks (corner Flinders and Swanston Sts, CBD). Catching the 9:07am train from Flinders St to Williamstown Beach Railway Station. Arriving at Williamstown Beach Railway Station at 9:34am starting point of the walk. NOTE: taking Westgate Punt cost $5 cash only across the Yarra River to the Port Melbourne side. The walk will take around 5 1/2 hours including breaks. Expect to finish at Beacon Cove Light Rail Station around 3.30pm, taking the 109 tram back to the city.

 

Walk Description

Meet at Flinders Street Railway Station under the clocks at 8:45am corner Flinders St & Swanston St under clocks, catching 9:07am train from Flinders St to Williamstown.

The walk starts at Williamstown Beach Station, walking along the Esplanade with bay views. Through Point Gellibrand Coastal Heritage Park with views across the bay to St Kilda and beyond. We will walk along Nelson Place through Williamstown taking the scenic bay route along The Strand.
Continuing along Riverside Park trail beside the Yarra River past Newport Power Station with city skyline in the background.

NOTE: We will take the Westgate Punt cost $5 cash only across the Yarra River to the Port Melbourne side.

 

Walking through the Westgate Park, having lunch near the saltwater lake. Then onto the Sandridge Lookout on the corner of Webb Dock. Walking along the foreshore towards Station Pier, finishing at Beacon Cove Light Rail Station at Port Melbourne.

What to bring

• Day pack
• Sufficient water (2 litres, more on hot summer days)
• Lunch and snacks
• Hat, sun screen
• Suitable outdoor clothing (no jeans/sneakers!)
• Rainwear & warm jacket
• Proper walking shoes/boots

Non-members: $7  (please pay the leader CASH at the start of the walk, no credit cards)

Passengers must pay the driver their share of car-pooling costs as described on the Car-pooling page. Please bring cash for this purpose.
