Jann Cooney is a long-time YHA Bushwalking Club Member, now also on the committee, and an even longer time avid walker, besotted with beautiful places in nature and with being out in it.

In November 2018, to help celebrate her 60^th birthday, Jann and two friends from NSW decided to walk the relatively new 3 Capes Track along Tasmania’s Tasman Peninsula.

Having previously done a number of Tasmania’s premier walks, including the Overland, The South Coast Track, The Walls of Jerusalem, Mt Field and Mt Anne, Jann was initially a bit dubious about whether the 3 Capes Track would live up to the hype, and be worth the money.

Also, what impact had this major tourist development had on the environment of the beautiful Tasman National Park?

Happily though, what she and her friends experienced was a glorious walk in spectacular scenery along a sympathetically designed and implemented track that makes for a memorable and highly recommended three days.

Tonight Jann will share some of her delight and impressions of this stunning walk, along with a brief history of the track and some practical tips to get your boots onto it.
