Ada Tree Loop via VHC Track

Closed

Walk Description

Distance 18 Km
Elevation 600 m
Grade M 🥾🥾
This is a pleasant walk in the Yarra State Forest, about 90Km from Melbourne.  Most sections of the trails are shaded by lovely forest canopies.
The Ada Tree is one of the oldest Mountain Ashes in Victoria, 76 meters tall, 16 meters circumference and 300+ years old.   It was believed to be named after Ada Mortimer, a local resident, a lady friend of the surveyor.  It also thought to be named after Ada Lovelace, who loved mathematics and dancing parties.
We will start from VHC Track, and walk towards the Ada #2 campground, then take a right onto the Upper Yarra Walking Track to Federal Mill camping area, for a morning tea stop.  After the campground, turn left onto Federal Mill Walking Track, then onto the Ada Tree Walking Track.  We will have lunch at the Ada Tree picnic area.  After lunch, we will walk along Ada River Road, Federal Shortcut Road and Big Creek Road.  Eventually make a left onto VHC track back to the start point.
We may stop at Noojee after the walk to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, if you would like to.

Life is wonderful in hiking boots, see you out there 😄
