Benalla – Day Hike or Accommodated Overnighter (your choice!)

Closed

Trip Overview

Hoping you will join either for a day hike or two day hikes in the Benalla region.

The first hike is Mount Samaria, about 15 kilometres, close to Benalla. Due to the distance from Melbourne, this hike will commence at 10.30 am.

You can choose to stay in Benalla if you wish – own arrangements. Happy to put people in touch if they wish to share a rental.

The second hike is Warby Ranges, near Wangaratta (about a 45 minute drive from Benalla). This hike will commence at 10.00 should you wish to join as a day trip.

Benalla is accessible by public transport, please make your arrangements if this appeals. We should be able to get someone to meet you in Benalla if the train times match up.

Accommodation

This trip is a little different to most YHA Bushwalking trips, in that you need to book and pay for your own accommodation. We will be staying in Benalla. You can book accommodation in one of the motels, tourist parks or maybe AirBnb.

Our leader plans to book accommodation for the Saturday night only and will drive to Saturday’s walk on Saturday morning.  You can choose to book accommodation in Benalla for Friday and Saturday nights or Saturday night only – it’s your choice.  We will arrange a group dinner on Saturday night in Benalla. Those arriving on the Friday may wish to also join for dinner; we’ll work that out as we get closer.

If you are wishing to share a room with someone else, please advise; we’ll put you in touch with others of a like mind.
