Lerderderg Gorge: Alexander Technique plus an optional extra walk

Closed

Walk Description

How to protect your knees and feet using the Alexander Technique

David Moore has been an Alexander teacher for the past 35 years. The Alexander technique is a way of identifying faulty patterns of posture and movement which may put pressure on different joints of the body and learning ways of changing them.

From 9.30am to 12.30 pm we will focus on the Alexander technique looking in detail at participants’ individual walking and posture.

We will then have lunch and do a short walk to Graham’s Dam (Easy, 3kms). From there we will explore a very short walk up and down the start of the very steep number 1 track.

The session will finish there. You then have the options of returning to your car,  staying at the dam and swimming or doing the extra walk below:

Extra Walk:

This will be the Lerderderg circuit walk – tracks 1 & 2 taking about 3 hours.  These are very steep and rugged tracks, graded 4, and you will need a reasonable level of fitness to do this walk. There are several river crossings, and possibly several good swimming pools on the way back.

What to Bring:

Along with your normal day walking equipment (refer list below) you will need to bring:

Different boots and walking shoes which you may use
Walking poles if you use them
Packs which my may use, including a loaded overnight pack
Your bathers if you would like to swim

Transport

Transport to and from the walk location is by car. Please indicate your transport requirements and preferences on the booking request form when you book in.

If you don’t have a car, we can’t guarantee to provide you with a lift – this will depend on available drivers and their locations.
