Eltham to Ringwood
Expired
Walk Description
Distance: 24 kms
Duration: around 7 hours. including lunch and stops
It’s winter, so why do a long drive to the country when we can explore some of the many beautiful walking trails right here in the suburbs of Melbourne?
This trail follows Diamond Creek, the Yarra River and Mullum Mullum Creek all the way from Eltham to Ringwood. Your leader will be very surprised if we don’t spot kangaroos as we pass Petty’s Orchard where we plan to stop for a coffee if time permits.
The trails are a mixture of bitumen, gravel or board-walks and it is mostly pretty flat. The walk is graded Medium-Hard due to the distance (24kms) and the need to walk at a pretty decent pace (at least 4kms/hr).
Transport
Make your own way to the walk location by car or public transport (your choice).
If you drive, you will have the option of parking in Ringwood and taking public transport to the start of the walk, or parking in Eltham and returning to your car via public transport. Either way, the public transport leg will be around 1 hour, 5 minutes.
Make sure you bring your MYKI for the public transport journey.
