Lorne Accommodated Trip: Anzac Long Weekend

Cancelled

Trip Overview

Join us for some day walks in the area around Lorne with its waterfalls and beautiful views of the ocean.

Note: Thursday 25th April is the Anzac Day public holiday so to make this into a “Long Weekend”, you will need to take Friday off.

Accommodation

For this weekend we have booked two bungalows at the Cumberland River Holiday Park which is a ten-minute drive south of Lorne. Each bungalow has two bedrooms – one with a double bed and one with 4 bunk beds. There will be 4 people per bungalow. I will try to make the bungalows – or at least the bedrooms single sex. Please let me  know if this is important for you.

The bungalows also have a kitchen and cooking facilities, so you have the option of cooking. We can plan for a restaurant meal in Lorne as a group on the last night, and people also have the option of eating out on other nights.

Itinerary and Walk Descriptions

Thursday 25 April

Arrive at Cumberland River Holiday Park.

Friday 26 April

Lorne Waterfalls Loop. Distance: 17.4km. Elevation gain: 567 m.
All Trails lists it as challenging. I haven’t done it for several years but I would judge it to be more of a medium walk.

Saturday 27 April

We will do either:

(a) Lorne to Erskine Falls via Erskine river with 15 river crossings. Distance 15.3km, Elevation gain 445meters, Grade: medium-hard.
OR
(b) Circuit walk from Lorne via Erskine Falls and Cora Lynn Cascades – approx. 22kms and graded hard due to the numerous slippery river crossings of Cora Lynn River.

Sunday 28 April

Moggs Creek to Lorne via Beaches and rock shelves. Distance: 11.7km. Elevation gain: 147km. We need to start this trip at 7.30am to coincide with the low tide so we should have a free afternoon or have the option to do another shorter walk. If there is a large swell for this coastal walk, we will do a different  walk.

We may do a short walk before leaving for the return trip home.

Transport

Transport to and from the walk location is by car. Please indicate your transport requirements and preferences on the booking request form when you book in.

If you don’t have a car, we can’t guarantee to provide you with a lift – this will depend on available drivers and their locations.

Passengers must pay the driver their share of car-pooling costs as described on the Car-pooling page. Please discuss the preferred method of payment with your driver.
